Digipaks are a part of promotion campaign for the artist. Because of this they are likely to include images and symbols that are related to the artist and easy to distinguish. For example, Rihanna's album Loud, was released on 12 November 2010, this was exactly a month later from when she has released a music video for one of the songs in the album ''Only Girl (In The World)" which was released on 12 October of the same year. The theme of the music video and the digipak is similar enough to be linked to the artist. The key similarities are the colour scheme that is used and the props of the music video which are flowers and the digipak also including images of flowers.

Digipaks have a theme that reflects the music within the album. They are likely include symbols that are linked to a specific genre of music or the theme of the album. An example of this is in Taylor Swift's cover for her album "Red". The image that is used is of the singer looking down. What stands out the most is the red lipstick that she is wearing. Red is a colour that than be linked to passion, anger and maturity. This reflects the music theme that can be found within the album which is about her past failed relationships but from a more mature perspective.
